Our Doctors
Dr. Stacey Bender, DVM
Dr. Bender grew up in Manchester, Missouri and worked as a veterinary assistant at West County Animal Clinic in late high school and during the summers while in college. Upon completing an undergraduate degree at St. Louis University she attended veterinary school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. After graduation in 2005 she moved to Florida to work at an equine/small animal hospital for 2 years, then worked at a small animal/exotic clinic in Illinois for the next 5 years. In April 2012 Dr. Bender joined the staff of West County Animal Clinic as a veterinarian and now owns the clinic. She lives in St. Charles with her husband (Jeff), toddler daughter (Brooke) and 3 cats (Spider, Fiona, and Miss Sophie). Her areas of interest in veterinary medicine include cardiology, feline medicine, exotics, and dentistry.

Dr. Dietrich Steinberg, DVM
Dr. Steinberg was born in Germany and graduated from Hannover Veterinary School. Following his post graduate studies at the Veterinary School in Munich, he received his Dr. Med. Vet degree (Magna Cum Laude). In June of 1970, he came to St. Louis and was employed by the Humane Society and started West County Animal Clinic in November of 1973. In his long career, Dr. Steinberg has been devoted to optimal care of the pets entrusted to him. He is personally committed to ongoing lifelong learning and training in order to offer the best possible service to his clients.

Dr. Elizabeth Dolan, DVM
Dr. Elizabeth Dolan is a St. Louis native who joined the team at West County Animal Clinic in 2016. She completed both her undergraduate and veterinary school degrees at the University of Missouri. She has 3 small senior dogs (Piper, Darwin, and Nessie) as well as a cat named Cricket. Dr. Dolan has a special interest in geriatric veterinary medicine. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors (yardwork/gardening) and watching the St. Louis Blues hockey team.

Dr. Patterson, DVM
Dr. Patterson is a 1991 Graduate from the University of Missouri- Columbia. She has practiced in West County for the entirety of her career. She is married with two adult daughters, in college, 1 step-son and daughter in law, and two beautiful granddaughters. She has 2 dogs, a cat, and a betta fish.

Our Staff
Dana, Assistant Manager, Receptionist
Dana grew up right here in west county and has been working at our clinic since the spring of 2006. She enjoys not only working upfront with the clients but also assisting with animals in the back. Dana is married and is raising a daughter. She has quite a few pets: two French Bulldogs, one Pitbull mix, six cats and two tortoises. In her spare time, she enjoys going to Cardinal games, concerts, and Walt Disney World with the family.

Jenni, Head Vet Tech
Jenni grew up in Maplewood Missouri, she has worked as a veterinary technician since 2005. In February of 2010 Jenni joined the staff at West County Animal Clinic. She still lives in Maplewood along with her husband and two children. Jenni has a variety of pets and loves them all. Her areas of interest are surgery, dentistry, and cardiology. In her free time she loves watching forensic documents, hanging out with her family and listening to music.

Tabethia, Vet Tech
Tabethia has worked in the Veterinary field since 2003. She graduated Jefferson College in 2007 with an Associate’s Degree in Science and completed the Veterinary Technician program. She took the state and national testing, which made her a Registered Veterinary Technician here in Missouri. She has 4 cats and a son named Hendrix who was born in 2017. Tabethia enjoys her job helping animals and their owners. She has hand raised many litters of orphaned kittens and found them homes. She is always willing to learn and strives to be the best technician she can be.

Amy, Vet Tech
Amy has been a veterinary technician since 2003. She began her career working for a 20 doctor practice, focused primarily in the surgery department. She started working as a part time employee for West County Animal Clinic in 2010 before deciding to become a full time employee in 2017. She enjoyed being able to focus more on clinical care and also being able to form relationships with the clients and patients. She spends her free time with her 3 teenagers and their house full of pets.

Renee, Vet Tech
Renee started in this field in 2011, after earning her degree in veterinary technology in October of 2010. Her love and c compassion for animals prompted her to change paths mid-life, after an award-winning career in floral design and raising 2 children. She is now blessed with 2 grandchildren, Saylor May and Hadley Grace. She also has 3 wonderful dogs. Renee enjoys babysitting, occasional floral design, gardening, and spending time with family.

Andrea, Vet Tech
Andrea is a 1998 graduate of the Jefferson College Veterinary Technician program. She has been a Registered Veterinary Technician for 25 plus years. She has spent the majority of her nursing career in the specialties of Emergency medicine, Critical care, and surgical nursing. Recently she decided to switch to Clinic Veterinary Medicine to get to know patients and their owners better when they aren’t sick. Andrea lives in the Cedar Hill area with her husband, daughter, and son. She has two small dogs, a long haired dachshund and dachshund mix. In her free time the likes to read, research, and watch crime documentaries.

Megan, Vet Tech
Meg is fairly new to the WCAC family as she started here in Dec 2022. She has been fueling her passion of vet med since 2010. She believes in best medicine for the animal in sharing knowledge with others to be their best. Outside of work, she is a servant to her royal felines. Roxy and Tux keep her busy and humble.

Amanda, Vet Assistant
Amanda is our youngest veterinary assistant, She grew up in North County. She recently started her career working right here at West County Animal Clinic. Her love and compassion for animals is what drives her in this field. She has two dogs of her own and would love to expand her pet family. In her free time, Amanda loves traveling and snuggling with her fur babies at home.

Mollie, Receptionist
Mollie started working with animals in 2018 at a shelter. She has worked with animals since then as a certified professional dog trainer. She has three dogs at home and her youngest, Crush, has completed his AKC novice, intermediate and advanced trick titles, as well as his canine good citizen test. In February of 2024 she began her career in veterinary medicine working at a mobile vaccine clinic. In May of 2024 Mollie joined the staff at West County Animal Clinic so she could have more contact and build relationships with clients and their pets.

Sam, Vet Assistant
Sam is our newest veterinary assistant. She grew up in Crystal City and has worked with animals since 2018. She has a dog, Kyah, and a cat, Kannon. She is planning to go to school to advance her career in the animal field. Sam’s dream job is working for National Geographic. In her free time, she does photography. She is a Blues fan and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Lisa, Practice Manager
Lisa has been in various roles in the veterinary industry for over 30 years. She has 13 years of in-clinic experience and 20 years as a veterinary pharmaceutical and equipment sales representative. She has had a relationship with West County Animal Clinic for those 20 years. Lisa started working as the practice manager in August of 2024. Lisa has two big mixed breed dogs and two grandcats. In her free time, she likes to take walks and work in her veggie and flower gardens.

Beth, Bookkeeper
Beth has been a Bookkeeper for 40 years and has been with West County Animal Clinic since 2011. Beth has 2 grandcats, Shaxx and Mew. She loves to be outside in her free time, especially in the summer months.
